Once upon a time, there was a family of rope makers. The family had three children: two daughters and a son. For generations, the ancient craft had been passed down from father to son, preserving a finely developed tradition of craftsmanship.

The youngest daughter, however, chose a different path. She left Hungary to explore the world, study foreign languages and discover beauty in its many forms.

Her journey led her to Florence, Italy, where she pursued her university studies and earned her degree from the Università degli Studi di Firenze. Living in Florence immersed her in an extraordinary world of art, beauty and timeless elegance. Inspired by exceptional craftsmanship and the refined aesthetics of Italian culture, she developed a deep appreciation for the values that define European luxury.

She later began her professional career with the prestigious Ferragamo fashion house, where her passion for excellence, creativity and refined design grew even stronger.

Meanwhile, time took its course back home. As the family business continued to evolve, it became clear that there was no one left to carry on the generations-old tradition. The youngest daughter made a decision that would change the family’s story. She returned to Hungary and embraced the art of rope-making, learning its secrets and taking on the responsibility of preserving and developing the family heritage.

What initially seemed like a return to her roots soon became the beginning of something entirely new.

The factory continued to grow and flourish, producing increasingly refined cords and ropes. And somewhere along the way, a new idea began to take shape: what if a cord could become more than just a material? What if it could become a piece of jewellery?

Amarcord. I love cord.

The name Amarcord carries a special meaning. It is a playful expression of love for cord, but it also pays homage to one of Italy’s most celebrated filmmakers, Federico Fellini.

Amarcord is the title of Fellini’s iconic film, a poetic reconstruction of his childhood in Rimini, Italy. In the Romagnol dialect, the word means “I remember”. A masterpiece woven from memory and imagination, the film celebrates the beauty of personal stories, emotions and the passage of time.

For me, Amarcord brings together these two meanings: my love for cord and a deep connection to my roots. It is about remembering where I come from while opening unlimited horizons for imagination.
